Imaging is a LARGE part of on-line genealogy.

MaMaT needed a scanner. We got one of the best available at the time.

Olympus D-320L is the digital camera. It's taken most of the pictures on these pages and makes for very interesting party conversation, when combined with a laptop computer.

We bought it for three reasons.

1. Jerry Pournelle recommended Olympus.
2. It was on sale.
3. My wife bought it for me.

The secret of digital cameras: Shoot and keep on shooting!

The difference between an amateur and a professional photographer; the amateur gets one or two good pictures from a roll of 36, the professional gets two or three good pictures, and THROWS THE REST AWAY!
With a digital camera, you can not only throw away the bad ones, you can edit them to get better pictures, and discard your mistakes, without spending much money. (Assuming you are using rechargeable batteries. I use Nickel Metal Hydride NMh and a quick charger. Just don't forget to recharge the batteries regularly.)

The D-320L has been replaced with the D-360L, with zoom and higher resolution, better software and a much larger standard, and optional, memory cards.
Nothing lasts long in the digital age, I see by the weekend sales supplements the new D-340L is on sale, I wonder what the next model will be like.
